Suprised By Love
Wednesday, October 28th, 2009I have told many people before I use Starbucks as my office. I actually use it for meetings and my relationship-building context. God led me to this epicenter nearly 2 years ago. I have made several friendships and they all haven’t been with young people. They have been with a wide variety of folks. It’s a spiritual warfare ground where people desperately need Jesus. They may hide behind computers, iPods, and their 5-dollar cup of coffee. If you would have told me several months ago a certain gentleman was going to start attending Embrace I would have laughed. Not because I’m a cynic but simply because it didn’t take very long. This past Sunday he stopped by. He couldn’t attend service but still came to drop off clothes for the clothing bank. As he left this rugged older man gave me a hug and then kissed me on the forehead. I wasn’t expecting it. It caught me off guard. In that tender moment I saw a glimpse of the Kingdom of God. I’m not close with my own father but in that moment I felt I had a surrogate father.
