Standing Firm
Thursday, October 29th, 2009One church, which is under the radar in Lexington but kicking some serious tail, is Vineyard Community Church on Winchester Rd. I have met a lot of solid people who are apart of the church. One of them wanted me to connect with their pastor, Kevin Clark. Yesterday Kevin and I hooked up. Kevin showed me around their facility, which is becoming increasingly smaller due to their growth. Also Kevin shared his story with me on how the church plant he started in Colorado tanked. I asked him how he had the guts to do it again. Kevin said he was willing to try it one more time. The first two years they had 40-50 people coming to worship. After year 2 something happened and things started picking up. Kevin said it was a total God thing! He couldn’t take credit for it. As Kevin prayed for me Ephesians 6 came to him, which has been a theme for me the past few weeks. Kevin turned to me and said a lot of spiritual warfare has to do with consistency, not giving up. As long as you are standing firm the enemy can’t win. If you don’t give up the evil one will not get the upper hand. For the team and myself planting Embrace Church has been one of the greatest experiences we’ve ever had. We continue to realize the importance of constancy Sunday after Sunday but especially day by day as we interact with unchurched/dechurched…. people in general. We can’t give up. After all Christ didn’t give up on us.
